Description: This dataset represents the point locations of fire hydrants within Baltimore County's service area. The data is created and maintained by the Baltimore County Fire Department using source materials from Baltimore County Department of Planning, Department of Permits, Approvals, and Inspections, Baltimore County Fire Department, and Baltimore City Department of Public Works. The dataset is created using a Baltimore City replicated geodatabase which includes all hydrants tracked by Baltimore City. Baltimore County uses this data in conjunction with permits, site plans, and other data/information gathered from Baltimore County to georeference and accurately cross verify hydrant locations. This process is performed manually by Baltimore County Fire Department staff and is additionally cross verified using a spatial automated process using FME. The data populates values in the First Due software's hydrant module using automated ArcGIS Sync through a published map service and a manual daily push of updates. This data supports Fire Department staff in conducting asset management related to the maintenance and upkeep of the hydrant dataset.
